Cybersecurity policy will enhance State security: Sharath Bacche Gowda

Bengaluru:

Expressing concerns over the increasing number of cybercrime cases in the state, Hosakote MLA Sharath Bacche Gowda said that the implementation of the ‘Cybersecurity Policy-2024,’ would help improve cyber security scrutiny in Karnataka.

 

Speaking at the launch event of the Cybersecurity Policy 2024, he said that young people were increasingly turning towards startups, and that such security policies would help achieve further advancements in modern technology. 

 

IT-BT companies and the public at large, too would benefit from this policy, he added.

 

The policy, implemented in two phases, will contribute to the overall security of society, including education, industry, startups, and the government.

It aligns with the national security policy and will be crucial for maintaining the state’s cybersecurity.

 

He also said that the policy had been implemented with the cooperation of the Home Department, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, the IT, BT, and Science and Technology Department, and both government and private sector partners.

 

He also mentioned that additional policies related to cybersecurity would be introduced in the future.

 

In the event, M.S. Ekarup Kaur, Secretary of the Electronics, IT, BT, and Science and Technology Department, spoke about the anticipated complexity of the cybersecurity field in the future.

 

The programme was organised under the leadership of Priyank Kharge, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Information Technology and Biotechnology.
