The President complimented the visually impaired cricketers for their great performance in the event while using her official account on X, previously Twitter.

The Indian women’s team deserves our sincere congratulations on winning the gold medal by defeating Australia in the blind cricket competition! President Murmu wrote on X, “The country is proud of you for your historic and inspirational performance in the first-ever blind cricket competition at the IBSA World Games.

The squad received praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well.

“Congratulations to India’s women’s blind cricket team for taking home the gold in the IBSA World Games! A tremendous accomplishment that best represents the skill and unwavering spirit of our athletes. On X, formerly known as Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India beams with pride.”

India held Australia to 114/8 in the allowed 20 overs before chasing down the amended goal of 42 in only four overs due to a weather-related intervention.

Last week, blind cricket made its debut at the IBSA World Games, with the first match pitting longtime rivals England and Australia against one another.

India defeated Australia by 9 wickets in the maiden women’s visually impaired cricket championship match.

Australia chose to bat first, but they did not have a good start as their first wicket fell in the fourth over. Australia failed to keep the scoreboard moving, scoring only 29 runs in the powerplay overs, maybe feeling intimidated and overwhelmed by the strain of the final of a multi-discipline international athletic event.

India further upset the Australian batting order by taking two wickets in the eighth and ninth overs.

Australia was in trouble at 39/3 until a partnership of 54 runs between C Lewis and C Webeck helped them to a competitive total.

India, on the other hand, regained control of the match by taking wickets at regular intervals and bringing Australia down to 109/8.

The Australian squad was ultimately dismissed for only 114/8 in their allocated 20 overs.

India started out strong and hit the Australian bowlers hard from all angles as they attempted to reach the amended mark of 42 runs.

The Indians never seemed to be having trouble in the chase, and they won in only 3.3 overs.
