According to authorities, a priest from a temple in Ayodhya was discovered hanged in his bedroom on Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon, the corpse was discovered. The priest, identified as Ram Shankar Das of the Narasimha shrine in Ayodhya, said in a subsequent video that local police persecution drove him to commit suicide.
Local police recently charged Das in connection with the case of an elderly mahant of the same temple who vanished a few months before.
Manoj Sharma, the SHO for Ayodhya Kotwali, said that the priest had a drug addiction and committed himself while high. He made completely bogus accusations against the cops. We are looking into the situation.
