Record-Setting 211 Shots Played In The Women's Doubles Quarterfinals At The Malaysia Masters 2023

The Malaysian Women's Doubles team of Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan made history at the Malaysia Masters when they defeated the Japanese team of Ayako Sakuramoto and Rene Miyaura in a rally that lasted 211 shots.
The historic occasion happened in the third game of the tournament, with the Malaysian team winning 21-17, 18-21, and 16-14.
Tan played a crucial role in a comeback that would go down in history while the game was being played close to the wire. Fans wondered which couple would blink first as each continuously displayed their pure athleticism and skill.
The stunned crowd rose to its feet and applauded both sides for their dedication to the point as Sakuramoto, who failed to make a comeback and forfeited the point, collapsed to the ground.
Tan and Muralitharan ultimately prevailed in the game 21-17, 18-21, 21-19. The 211-shot rally is now a record in women's badminton and is thought to be the longest in history of the game.
When a women's doubles match at the Korea Open in 2022 generated 195 shots, BWF officially set a record.
