England is in the same boat as other teams, according to Jos Buttler

Four years is a long time, and Jos Buttler, the team’s captain, thinks the World Cup victory’s afterglow is long gone since his side is in the same situation as nine other teams going into the first match against New Zealand on Thursday.

In advance of the 48-game tournament, which will be contested across 10 sites over the next 45 days, the captains of all 10 teams gathered for a discussion at the ICC’s Captain’s Day event here. Topics discussed included the pressure of expectations, their strengths, and what they had learned from previous iterations.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-219711″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-sukesh-sends-mika-singh-a-legal-notice-asking-the-singer-to-apologize-days-after-t.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com sukesh sends mika singh a legal notice asking the singer to apologize days after t” width=”1315″ height=”985″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-sukesh-sends-mika-singh-a-legal-notice-asking-the-singer-to-apologize-days-after-t.jpg 259w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-sukesh-sends-mika-singh-a-legal-notice-asking-the-singer-to-apologize-days-after-t-150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1315px) 100vw, 1315px” title=”England is in the same boat as other teams, according to Jos Buttler 6″>

We aren’t the reigning champs, in my opinion. We are now in a similar situation to everyone who was seated here on tournament day hoping to win it, according to England captain Buttler.

We feel prepared. We are ecstatic. We’re all really thrilled for the competition to begin tomorrow since we all know how great India is for cricket.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, who will be absent for the tournament’s first match, believes that teams have undergone adjustments in the last four years.

He said, “Like Jos stated, you kind of go to another tournament and everyone obviously begins from the same place and starts anew.

Williamson added, “You know for us it’s very much concentrating on the style of cricket that we want to keep committing to and give us the greatest opportunity of putting forth our best performance. You know you move from tournament to tournament, teams change, opposition changes, circumstances.

Pat Cummins of Australia felt that his squad would be able to match the accomplishments of previous champions.

“Yeah, I can’t claim too much credit for a lot of them (tournament victories). When questioned about Australia’s excellent World Cup past, he said, “There are a number of the lads that were there in 2015, which definitely gives us confidence.

“In the early 2000s, we had a pretty good year. I believe that the one-day cricket format has worked well for Australian teams in the past, he remarked.

All bases were covered by the squads headed by Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting.

“I grew up watching that early type of 2000s period on the field, not just when they were batting and had some terrific fast bowlers. Yes, they were excellent and really sporty. So let’s hope we can continue. We’ve had a relatively successful World Cup history. So perhaps there will be another,” Cummins said.
